Perdido, located about 15 miles west
of Pensacola, is a barrier island. It is quiet here partly due to its
remote location. Public areas are confined to the natural areas of the
Gulf Islands National Seashore on the island's eastern tip, or the Perdido
Key State Recreation Area in the heart of the key. Miles of sugar-white
sandy beaches are the dominant feature. Condos are the predominant housing
but, there are plenty of single family houses also.
Blessed with four distinct seasons the mild climate
allows outdoor activities on all but a few days a year. Summer brings
the characteristic heat and humidity of the South. Spring and Fall are
relatively short with cool nights and warm days. Winters are also relatively
short and generally mild. It has snowed here but it seems to be a generational
event.
Here is a short list of local attractions
and "Things to Do". For more resources go to the Perdido Key
